365 #153 – Bloom

#153/365

Today I was one of the lucky people to attend the photowalk.ie outing at Bloom in the Park 2011, my wife came along with me and we had a great time. The organisers very kindly gave the photowalker group early access to Bloom, before it was opened to the public. All I can say is WOW! The displays, events & foods are superb, I would highly recommend it as a must see for the Bank Holiday weekend. So much to see and experience. The Bloom website is here.

One of the things that struck me about about Bloom was that it really seemed to lift people’s spirits, the place was full of happy smiling people. While I took a fair few shots I had to pick one for my 365, the gentleman above kindly agreed to allow me to photograph him, he was relaxed and seemed ready for a bit of fun – which for me embodied the spirit of Bloom.

There are more of my shots on pix.ie in my Bloom 2011 album here or on my Bloom page here on my blog

One thing I have to mention, while Bloom is full of spectacular gardens, flower displays and gardening related products, the fact that Bord Bia are involved was very evident. The artisan food section was wonderful and a testament to the superb foods produced in Ireland. For me the highlight of the food was a new discovery (to me) produced by J.Hicks & Sons Butchers called Bacon Jam – it’s like a relish and a true treat for your tastebuds.

Fair play to you getting strangers to pose for portraits. They must really trust you 🙂
