Prep work

A lot of work goes into preparing a horse for a showing class, including plaitting its main and sewing each of the plaits.

    • Trish, the majority of the time she uses rubber bands. After plaiting the plaits are pulled together into rosebuds. Sewing is more traditional, the rosebuds tend to hold together better the and end result looks better.

      • I always thought it was elastic bands but I suppose the elastic breaks the horses hair. thanks

      • Trish, it is elastic/rubber bands most of the time but something special like the RDS people put in the extra effort 😉
