Eastern Region Dressage Ireland Leading Riders
(L-R): Ruth Ferrie (Junior), Jill McGrath (Preliminary & Overall), Gillian Kyle (Chairperson), Mairin Cassidy (Elementary), Novice (Lisa Carnegie)
Last night the Eastern Region Dressage Ireland held their AGM and at the end of the meeting presented their Leading Rider awards. Myself and Ruth went along to the AGM as we reckon that if you’re involved in something then you need to stay involved. Ruth has been competing with Eastern Region for two seasons, but only as a registered rider for this last season.
Our experience from attending the events has always been a good one. We’ve found all the people involved to kind & encouraging and people who enjoy their sport and are keen to encourage other people to join them. While everyone likes to win, it seems to me that all the riders at the shows are just as keen to see somebody else do well and are willing to help them do that. All the events we have attended have been held at Boswell Equestrian near Ashford, a great venue, the owners & staff are just as welcoming as the people from Eastern Region Dressage.
Naturally, I was both delighted and proud to see Ruth receive the Junior Leading Rider award last night, it’s a testament to her love for the sport & her dedication to training herself and her horse.
My role is transport manager, assistant groom & photographer, but I must say that it’s always a pleasure to attend an Eastern Region event. They’re always well run and while it may seem like a small thing, they run on time. That’s a testament to the work of the Secretary (Katriona Hall), the judges, scribes, call up stewards and everyone who works in the background to make the shows happen.
It would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention the sponsor for this year’s leagues, Tredstep Ireland, I’m sure the other league winners would agree, Tredstep were very generous in their prizes, aside for the beautiful coolers for the horses and rosettes, the gift vouchers for Tredstep products were most welcome. Ruth is delighted with the Giotto paddock boots she got with her voucher. She has said that aside from the comfort of the boot, the design most definitely has helped with her foot position when riding.
Many thanks to Eastern Region Dressage Ireland for a great season, here’s to more great events next year, having two winter training events remaining in the year is a nice way to round things off.
